Historical moments since Coyotes last beat Bruins (on Oct. 2010)
Some more significant than others, but still ... history!
Earlier, I broke down the past 21 games between the Coyotes and Bruins, as Boston’s streak is at 19 games. That could go to 20 if the Bruins win on Friday.
Let’s look at the many things that have happened since the Coyotes beat the Bruins.
2009-10
October 18, 2009: Coyotes (then Phoenix) beat Bruins 4-1
This is the last time the Coyotes beat the Bruins in a regular season game in North America.
2010-11
October 9, 2010: Coyotes (then Phoenix) beat Bruins 5-2 in Czechia, last time they beat the Boston Bruins, in general.
Significant and insignificant history made during Bruins’ 19-game winning streak against the Coyotes
October 10, 2010: Bruins 3, Coyotes 0 -- the streak begins
May 2011: Take it away, John Cena.
June 15, 2011: In an (at least mild) upset, the Bruins beat the Canucks in Game 7 to win the 2011 Stanley Cup. You may remember the reaction being severe.
2011-12
Dec. 28, 2011: Bruins 2, Coyotes 1 (OT)
Definitely not happening at an alarming rate, no way, nothing to see here: natural disasters. Maybe humanity will do a better job at least trying to address the red-flag-draped elephants in the room whenever the Coyotes start beating the Bruins again? Nah, just dump those problems on the kids you pretend to care about.
2012-13
Dec. 5, 2013: Nelson Mandela died, despite what some uh may believe.
January 2013: Perhaps the dumbest NHL lockout so far finally ended.
June 24, 2013: Bruins lose to Blackhawks in Game 6 of the 2013 Stanley Cup Final.
July 30, 2013: Team Bri officially formed.
2013-14
March 13, 2014: Bruins 2, Coyotes 1
March 22, 2014: Bruins 4, Coyotes 2
August 2014: moved to a country with an actual social safety net (imperfect or not). Kinda nice to not worry if a trip to the ER might ruin me. Bummer that the cheaper and better thing can’t happen for the U.S.
2014-15
Dec. 6, 2014: Bruins 5, Coyotes 2
Feb. 28, 2015: Bruins 4, Coyotes 1
May 2015: Saw Faith No More during one of their reunion tours. Wine and Rob Lowe-approved pizza were consumed.
2015-16
Oct, 18, 2015: Bruins 5, Coyotes 3
Oct. 27, 2015: Bruins 6, Coyotes 0
2016-17
Summer of 2016: Whatever happened as far as gross political machinations go, the results eliminated what could have been a pivotal moment. While many everyday people would have been coached and fooled into hating the person who could’ve helped them, the bottom line is that this was a golden opportunity to save, elongate, and/or enrich millions of lives, and instead … well, our actual timeline continued.
May 2016: Speaking of BETRAYALS OF THE PEOPLE, this smug dolphin tried to steal my wife that same summer! What is this, some sort of “White Lotus” prequel?
Not cool.
Nov. 8, 2016: ffs. Expectations were low, yet the floor collapsed lower. So many buffoons.
Nov. 12, 2016: Bruins 2, Coyotes 1
Feb. 24, 2017: Thundercat released the album “Drunk.”
Feb. 28, 2017: Bruins 4, Coyotes 1
2017-18
Oct. 14, 2017: Bruins 6, Coyotes 2
Dec. 7, 2017: Bruins 6, Coyotes 1
2018-19
Nov. 17, 2018: Bruins 2, Coyotes 1
Dec. 11, 2018: Bruins 4, Coyotes 3
June 12, 2019: St. Louis handily beats Bruins in Game 7 of the 2019 Stanley Cup Final, earning the Blues their first-ever Stanley Cup win. Many Jordan Binnington tantrums since then.
2019-20
Oct. 2, 2019: AEW aired its first episode of Dynamite. Now that’s some good (often great) 'rasslin.
Oct. 5, 2019: Bruins 1, Coyotes 0
Mid-October 2019: Team Bri added Cooper to the mix. Maybe one of these days we’ll settle this pooch down.
Late 2019: Word of COVID was spreading, though perhaps not fast enough. The WHO declared it a pandemic in March 2020 (no pinball wizards helped out).
Feb. 8, 2020: Bruins 4, Coyotes 2
April 8, 2020: A process that was already in motion ended with its final whimper. Hopefully this wasn’t the last chance for the average American to get boosted up in ways that aren’t half-measures, “means-tested,” or a drop in the bucket.
No game in 2020-21; this time the NHL had a decent excuse
Jan. 6, 2021: During a stretch of “ffs” moments, we get perhaps the ffs-iest. Tip: don’t ask if mutants will ever reach rock bottom.
May 2021: Monster Train came out. That’s a gem of a video game.
2021-22
Jan. 28, 2022: Bruins 2, Coyotes 1
March 12, 2022: Bruins 3, Coyotes 2
This season (2022-23)
Oct. 15, 2022: Bruins 6, Coyotes 3
